When you give something handmade it really comes from the heart and adds a special feeling to any occasion.  When you take the time to make a gift it is a guarantee that it will be treasured for years to come.
A lot of people get caught up in creating “perfect” gifts and get frustrated because they doubt their own talent. Give yourself a chance to create handmade Easter gifts, you will be surprised by how easy it is and how satisfying it can be. Handmade gifts for Easter will certainly be remembered for years to come.
Even handmade tasty treats are better than store bought options. Homemade treats are a lovely way to say that you care.  Besides handmade creations are fun!  It is fun to create gifts for the people you love and give them a little piece of yourself.
A handmade gift does not have to be elaborate to be appreciated.  Here are 7 ideas for homemade Easter gifts that you can make in a short period of time:
  1. Easter door wreath. You can buy a wreath kit from any craft store or you can start from scratch with what you have on hand either way this makes a great gift for any adult.  You can use Easter themed trinkets to decorate the wreath and spring colors.
If you have a wire hanger, some material and a few trinkets to add you have a wreath. There are plenty of tutorials online that you can access that will give you step by step instructions.
The fun part of making an Easter wreath is that it can be used year after year and every time it is pulled out you will be thought of. It is a great handmade gift for anyone in your life.
  1. Hand decorated wooden crosses. You can craft a wooden cross from any scrap wood that you have lying around and paint designs on it. You can personalize this gift by adding the recipient’s initials into the design that you paint on the cross.
You can get creative with this idea and use modge podge to decorate with photographs. You can choose the size of the cross from mini to table top. If crosses are not your thing you can easily buy cut out wooden eggs and decorate those in an Easter theme.
  1. Handmade Easter “baskets”. Who says an Easter basket of goodies has to be in an actual basket? Or for that matter that it is for children only AND can only hold edible goodies.
You can use decorative boxes that you have handmade to hold some homemade goodies, store bought candy and even a hand decorated Easter egg.
You can create an Easter basket from virtually anything that can hold the candy and other goodies.  For the gardener in your life a watering can filled with goodies and a few garden items like tools and seeds will be greatly appreciated.
For the artist in your life an art caddy with some supplies in addition to the goodies is a great gift. A beach lover would love a new beach caddy full of goodies for the beach like sunglasses, a nice beach towels a good book. Use your imagination to create unique “baskets” for friends and family.
  1. Easter eggs do not have to be a boring gift. There are other ways to decorate Easter eggs that can easily make them a permanent treasure.
Traditionally we boil and dye the eggs using food coloring which of course are then ruined and forgotten after we crack the shell and eat them.
You can make them a permanent gift by poking a hole in both ends of the eggs with a sewing needle and blowing out the egg.
Once you have the egg cleaned out you have a really nice canvas to work with.  Instead of “dying” or “painting” the egg you can cover it in modge podge and use seeds, spices, crushed herbs and even oatmeal to cover the egg and give it some texture. Use your imagination and you will create unforgettable looking eggs.
  1. Make some Easter candy. You can put your own twist on some Easter candy. Molds are relatively inexpensive and are readily available. You can find plenty of recipe options for homemade candy. To really make the gift special place the candy in a keepsake bowl or container.easter-candy.jpg
  2. Beaded jewelry is also an easy gift to make that can make a big impression. You can grab some beads and wire and create bracelets, earrings or necklaces that are Easter themed colors. You can fashion a beaded bunny pendant or pin.
There are easy to follow patterns that can help you to create beautiful handmade Easter jewelry. You can get really creative with beads and use them to decorate T shirts, jeans, purses and other objects. You can even create beaded Easter eggs. There is no reason that you cannot use beads to enhance everything and anything.
  1. Create lace Easter eggs. Use squares of lace that you have soaked in a light wash of white glue and water and attach to egg shell (blow out the egg as instructed in #4).
You can create beautiful keepsake eggs using eggs and lace doilies. You can use small satin ribbon to create a sash for the eggs and customize by writing the recipient’s name on the sash. This is a great gift idea. You can create a “basket” of eggs by placing the eggs in a porcelain or ceramic bowl.
You do not have to spend a lot of time or money on handmade Easter gifts to create lovely gifts that will be cherished.  All you have to do is get creative! Save money, have fun and create one of a kind Easter gifts that are handmade.
